In the past, “negra” flamenco guitars have been made primarily with a dark rosewood, usually Indian or Brazilian rosewood, rather than the light-colored Spanish cypress, which is commonly found on traditional “blanca” guitars. Although a rosewood “negra” can possess an attractive sound, it sometimes lacks the acoustic power, brilliance, and percussive nature that passionate flamenco guitarists often dream of.
